Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

Posted by Foobooz on February 5th, 2007

Flemings Prime Steakhouse

Craig LaBan headed out to Radnor with a healthy case of skepiticism to try out Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, a high end chain from the folks that brought us Outback. But LaBan found that this steakhouse chain is worth keeping.

I prefer the quality of Fleming’s steaks to that of those two competitors (as well as Ruth’s Chris and Smith & Wollensky). I’m generally not a wet-aged fan (I prefer the complexity of a long dry age), but Fleming’s prime meat, butchered in-house and simply seasoned, was incredibly tender and perfectly cooked.

Each slice had the long, lingering savor of quality beef that rang true to the particular cut – the ribeye bursting with a swashbuckling, fat-basted gusto; the bone-in strip steak more refined and focused, but still flexing a peppery, beefy punch; the filet mignon a thick pillow of luxurious carnivore comfort.

Two Bells – Very Good

Not nearly as good as Sullivans or Capital Grill. Had to send back my ribeye because 9/10 of it was a hugh chunk of fat in the middle. The cesar salad was salty and bland, but the onion rings were good. Would have been happier at the Outback.

Overall ………. Blahhh!!! Didn’t even feel snobby, which I like to feel while spending $200 on dinner.

      salty and bland??? really…ok?

I’ve been there many times and after years of being a regular at Sullivan’s and making frequent trips to capital grille….and i find it the best steakhouse, even dining experience I’ve had in years….excellent steaks, good sides, great wine….

everyone on the mainline should do themselves a favor and try it
