Location of General Lafayette Tiedhouse Revealed!

Posted by Kirsten Henri on March 5th, 2008

Just got word from Chris Leonard – owner/brewmaster of the General Lafayette Inn. We reported exclusively last week that he was looking for a Center City location for a second project, the General Lafayette Tiedhouse, and now we can confirm that he has an agreement for a space and is working out the details. You’ll find it at 2001 Hamilton Street on the ground floor of the CityView condo.

Looks like Fairmount won – our commenting Restaurant Yentas were right on the money! More info to come…

Yuck! In the Cityview!? Thats horrendous. Nothing like craft beer in a ugly 70s condo building. Maybe one of the better Philly area breweries (Victory, Sly Fox) will take the hint, come down town and pick a better locale.

A beer place will likely tap the customer potential in that area more than an upscale sushi place- lots of college renters, young condo owners at CityView/Tivoli/Hamilton, young families in Spring Garden, and the upcoming Parkway22. They probably got a good lease rate there too.

I’m a regular patron of the General because it IS the better brewery Bob. Quite frankly who cares where they put it – my guess is that restaurant space comes at a premium in Philadelphia and renting is the way to go. I’ll tak my craft beer anywhre I can get it Chief! Looking forward to checking it out.
