This Week’s Sign Of The Apocalypse

Posted by Foobooz on September 25th, 2008

Sarah Palin will be watching the presidential debate (if it happens) from the Irish Pub.

Fox 29 leaves out which Irish pub on Walnut Street. Which one do you think is more Sarah, the 20th street location or 12th Street?

Update: It’s the 20th and Walnut location.

Uh, doesn’t she have some kids with special needs that require her attention? What would the Christian Right say about a Mom who blows off her kids to sit in a bar and watch TV? Hmmm.

    2. WonerBra Says:

      20th Street – most definitely.
The 12th Street location is in the gayborhood

What is this good Christian woman doing in a bar? I think she may be under the control of witchcraft.

    4. Joshua Wyeth Says:

I hope she’s not watching at Paddy’s Pub

    5. LickIt Says:

      Eeew -please stay away Palin!!!

    6. Jill Says:

Nah, my guess is 12th St. It’s north enough of the Gayborhood that she’ll probably feel safe, and far less full of obnoxious and drunk college students.

      bwahahahahahahhahaha

Think she can drink like the Hill-dawg? Beer and a shot for the moose hunter!

    8. brendancalling Says:

@Jill: 12 street is north of the Gayborhood? Try “the heart of the gayborhood” along with 13th.

But either way, ugh, I can’t believe that wretch is comign here (although maybe she’ll get shitfaced and make out with someone).

    9. hwp Says:

Brendancalling, 12 Street isn’t north of anything, it runs north to south. The Irish Pub is on Walnut. Which is just north of the heart of the gayborhood.

But I think she’ll go to 20th Street and throw back jagerbombs with the Penn students anyway.

      >What is this good Christian woman doing in a bar?
If her witch-hunting pastor gets to there before her, it will be a church before she arrives.

    11. Gary Says:

The McCain campaign screws up yet again. They just invited the entire pro-choice community of Philadelphia to protest on Walnut Street. Enjoy the circus, Sarah!

    12. Nicole Says:

think she’ll do a citywide with me?

    13. cheesesteak.the.impaler Says:

Yeah, 12th and Walnut is N. of the Heart of the Gaybourhood, and 1 block N. of the planned Parenthood Offices. If that’s the location, someone on her advance team isn’t vetting locations very well. Then again, it’s not too far from the Walnut St. theatre which tends to show stuff more her speed.

I’m guessing the idea of Palin in a “Philadelphia Irish Pub” is there to give the sense to a national audience who have no idea what Center City is, that she’s somehow “in touch” with “working America” … playing off Irish stereotypes and the like.

My guess, this event gets washed and she holes up in the Union League.

    14. Jimmy Says:

Isn’t this something Obama would do? You know, take off the tie, roll up the sleeves, and seem hip and approachable to youth and the working class (while speaking in generalities about “change”).

    15. startfunkel Says:

      um, no.
obama would go to grace to be served by the best bartender in this fair city…

someone should dress up as a dinosaur and chase her out of town.

    17. Janet Says:

It’s nice that she has the guts to appear in such hostile territory.

A woman with kids can have a drink at a bar, or is this only a right for male governors like Rendell?

    18. JGabriel Says:

Oh please, oh please, oh please, dear God, let her get drunk on camera.
