Say What? Wine Bar to Liberty Place?

Posted by Foobooz on January 14th, 2010

Michael Klein is reporting that Vintage Irving, a New York wine bar is close to signing a lease at the Shops at Liberty Place.

What doesn’t make sense is that the bar would be on the second floor by the food court where the Dale & Thomas popcorn store had been located. First off that doesn’t seem like a very big space and secondly, why open a wine bar that is completely isolated from street traffic and thirdly, there’s not much in traffic on the second floor there after lunchtime and certainly not at night when you would expect a wine bar to be busiest.

only makes sense if liberty place is making a turn for upscale and this is the first step. turning that space into more of an upscale food court to compete with marketplace at comcast center…

There are several spaces at Liberty Place that currently have outside access that don’t take advantage of it. One of those spaces would make much more sense (yes, I’m thinking of you Andrew’s Ties). Maybe there are multiple moves underway.

No matter what, it doesn’t make sense at all. Either the report is wrong or somebody in NYC didn’t do their research and is setting themselves up for the big hurt.

      Wait, Dale & Thomas closed??

I second Barry’s comment! How will I get my crackcorn now?

Yes, I too am upset to learn about the closing of dale’s popcorn.
However, liberty place is ACROSS the street from my office. So I’m all for it!

I also work in the offices across from liberty place and would love a nice glass of wine and a personal gourmet pie at lunch instead of the alternative. check out their menu on their website it looks awesome. viva vintage liberty
