Can You Live on Bread Alone?

It’s free, it’s overlooked but it often sets the tone to the meal, we’re talking bread. The Bite salutes the bread service that we could live on, Chifa, Fork, Modo Mio and Parc to name a few.

What other bread is worth filling up on?

      funny– in the midst of all the amazing bites at Vetri- the bread still stands out. It’s that good.

      The bread at Amis is great. Koo ze doo has this killer corn bread. Southwark has some good stuff. For some reason nothing can beat those ghetto red lobster biscuits.

      The little rolls (?) at Alma de Cuba are amazing. Hummus in University CIty has the best pita, if that can be considered in the bread category.

      I still can’t get over how good the bread at Modo Mio is. I could live on it, with their lemon-olive oil and butter spread. Seriously.

      Doesn’t Zahav offer complimentary hummus and pita at the beginning of their meals, too? I think that is tremendous.

      the pan de bono at Pasion was better than Alma i miss it
      Chifa’s pan de bono is better than Pasion’s
      the bread was the best thing at Modo Mio such a huge disapointment, very rough service too
      biscuits at Devon are crazy good

      The breads at Koo Zee Doo do indeed rock.

      A friend described the bread at Modo Mio as managing to be both scorched on the outside and doughy on the inside… and yet, impossible to stop eating.

      Modo Mio’s bread – at least whatever they were serving a few weeks ago during Sunday dinner – is, by far, the best bread I have had in my life.

      Don’t forget the BYOs! Da Vinci’s across from the fountain on Passyunk has wonderful warm and crusty bread, along with these interesting spreads (think hummus but with other veggies instead of chickpeas).

      also, those are really good rolls.
