It’s $115 for VIP, you have it as $150. Also, only $55 till this Friday, then it’s $65.

Kbor: The Penn Museum is a great venue for this event. They held it there last year and it was not too crowded (relatively short lines, easy access to beer and food). If you are referring to the year that they held it at the visitor’s center (the year before they moved it to the Penn Museum), you are correct–it was a complete disaster, and I assume that is why they changed venues. I also really enjoyed the event when they held it at Reading Terminal, but I think they probably had to move when the market started opening on Sundays.

The poster above asked whether the event is in a better venue than the Constitution center. I just returned from the event,and I must say the large crowds severely detracted from the enjoyment of the event. With the VIP ticket, I certainly was able to get in earlier, and to retire to the downstairs area where there were great extra bites from DiBruno’s and beer from Victory. However, after 5pm when the general tickets were allowed to enter, the two upstairs rooms allocated to the event became wall to wall bedlam. You could barely breathe, always in danger of having your beer knocked from your hand and your food knocked from your plate. If I compare it to my previous experiences in the venue with Michael Jacksons’ tutored tastings, the crowds were much bigger and the overall feel was not as comfortable as the Jackson event. I know the event is a benefit, and it sold out. But I wonder if you cut the crowds by 10 percent and raised prices would you have a better experience.

That said there were some outstanding beers, the “sour” or Geuze from Bethlehem Brewworks was great, as was the Baltic Porter from Victory, especially pared with a raw cow’s milk cheese that had been washed in the Baltic Porter, and a cherry from Tria. Iron Hills saison and the humbolt frog goat cheese was a nice mixture as well, though I really liked Mackenzie’s saison! All in all a fun event.
