What’s Happening at Ansill?
Posted by Foobooz on March 9th, 2010

There’s a liquor license application in the window of the former Ansill at 3rd and Bainbridge. The license is being transferred from David Ansill’s Smoking Squirrel LLC to Thatsa Nice Restaurant Partners. The rumor on PhillySpeaks is that it is going to be a Stephen Starr enterprise. As commenter Mithras points out, Thats a Nice Restaurant Partners LLC has an address of 134 Market Street, the headquarters of Starr Restaurant Organization.

Thatsa Nice Restaurant Partners, LP has a registered business address of 134 Market St., which is Starr’s office. For what it’s worth, I heard the rumor of a Starr operation going into the old Ansill space several weeks ago.

Just what the city needs another shitty Starr Restaurant. When will this asshole have a enough money to stop and retire in Florida. I’m so sick of this dude I might move to Iowa to never hear his name again.

You’re right Herb – why would Philadelphia need another successful, independently-owned business that could employ 100 people, raise property values and contribute significant tax dollars to the city. Because, there is so much of that going around these days.

I hope its an Irish Pub or a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean concept, there simply isnt enough of that in the South Street area.
