Spotted Out & About

Posted by Foobooz on April 9th, 2010

Here are a couple of things spotted by readers around town.

3jscafe

Looks like Sweetie’s Pie Diner is becoming 3 J’s Cafe and will feature bagels, croissants, sandwiches, hoagies, soups and salads thought their sign hates commas.

And at 2nd and Fulton work is going on what is rumored to be an Italian restaurant.

Update: The restaurant going to in at 2nd and Ludlow is the Grill Room, a neighborhood steakhouse.

Anyone have anymore details?

Regarding the site at 2nd and Fulton: My husband spoke to the work crew today, and FWIW, they reported it is will be a steak place and pub, with outdoor seating in back. This site has been vacant since I moved here almost 5 years ago, so it is nice to see something (ANYTHING) new going in!

Got the same info from the owner. Nice guy. Shooting for a May 15th opening. Original bar looks gorgeous, like Southwark’s bar but bigger.

There’s also a thread on this place on Philadelphia speaks. Seems the owner also owns an establishment on South Street. I live a few blocks away, it is nice to see something open here. I hope it’s more low key and quiet though. The inside looks amazing.

I lived above that place, the owner is an idiot. He does not keep his places up to date. But good for the people who currently live above maybe 700 gas bills wont happen anymore.
