I can make a clear cut winner based on two specific past relationships…

Mikel (Spaniard) was a great cook, loved great wine, and was packing more than chorizo…

Hendrik (Dutch) couldn’t cook, only drank amstel, and the only “wood”en thing he had were a pair of creepy old elf shoes he used to put on when he was drunk.

Cruzcampo, the Spanish beer based in Seville, is currently owned by Heineken and is very similar to the NetherlandÂ´s version. That neutralises, in my opinion, that point for the Netherlands.

I am a bit biased towards Spain. Coquinas, sardines, fried cuttlefish, oxe tail, boletus mushrooms, white wines from rias baixas, cheese in the form a nunÂ´s breast.. What would we do without SpainÂ´s contribution of olive oil, wine, oranges and rice (bomba).

Mostly I don’t love Spanish food, since I’m veg, but one can’t deny:
tortilla de patatas (or a tortilla de espinacas bocadillo!)
Calimocho (or tinto de verano)
Rioja
Patatas bravas (mmmmmm tomate)
Pretty much every meaty I know would say jamon ibÃ©rico

Tortilla alone would do it for me. Ole! Ole Ole Ole!!!

seriously. in my mind, chorizo beats ALL, but i’ll be rooting for the dutch and their orange jerseys anyway.
