Despite starting the column with a cheesesteak reference we enjoyed reading about Supper, Barbuzzo, JG Domestic and Fish in the New York Times Travel section.  [New York Times]

      Sorry, but am I the only one that hated the NYTimes article? It was like, “Hey, Philadelphia started not eating at McDonald’s last week. Good job, little guy! You might know something about a food trend or two, but nothing we haven’t known for years. Only some of your food is horrible now!” Really, am I taking it too personally? I love New York, so I’m not just a hater, but I did hate that article.

      I think you’re taking it too personally, NYT has written many nice articles about Phila as a food and tourist destination, even an article about E. Passyunk last summer. Nearly all take the “there’s more than just cheesesteaks” tone, which is annoying, but New Yorkers basically turn their nose up at the rest of the world so I wouldn’t take it personally.

      We’ve had a lot of great food here for a while, but it really is only over the past 2 years or so where there are literally dozens of accessible restaurants to recommend to visitors, at all price points.
