50 Best Restaurants Final

Posted by Foobooz on January 28th, 2011

We’ve reached the Philly Mag Top 50 Restaurants bracket Finals and it all comes down to Lacroix versus Vetri.

Lacroix defeated Zahav in one semifinal while Vetri knocked off its sibling Osteria in the other.

That is a bunch of crap. Lacroix doesnt hold a candle to Zahav. The food, service and prices are much better at Zahav.

I have to say that I am disappointed in the snooty foodies who got Blackfish booted 1st round. Could it be that not enough votes were gotten because foodie folks cannot FATHOM the fact that such talent could possibly be out of the city? You complained about burbanites not being savvy about food because we were afraid to travel to the city. Well, we’ve been going in town now for a while and have experienced and appreciated some of the BEST cuisine in the WORLD. But, when a burbanite receives such accolades the respect is not returned. We in the West have learned aplenty and actually we don’t have to travel into the city for the SAME worldly cuisine. Blackfish is only one of many within a 15 min drive/and or walk for me AND no 20.00 parking fee to boot. Have a good day. FYI…I have nothing to do with Blackfish and the $20.00 fee was on a Sunday night during Restuarant Week…..Take care, Marezy.

I’m not snooty, I have no problem driving to the burbs, and I enjoyed the one meal that I had at Blackfish. But I still find Vetri, Lacroix, and several other restaurants to be better. That Philly Mag awarded Blackfish the No. 1 slot this year means nothing to me. I rely upon my own palate and experience at restaurants.

You seem to have totally ignored the other possible explanation: that Blackfish just isn’t as good as you think it is. I like it well enough, but #1 in the city, above Zahav, Osteria, Kanella, etc.? No way.

      One meal? My point exactly……………Marezy

AND to be booted off the 1st round…

Mary, Blackfish was booted in the first round because its opponent is superior in all respects. That does not mean Blackfish is not a stellar restaurant. So throttle back.
