The Khyber Pass Pub’s Izakaya pop-up is set for Monday and we’ve got the full menu.

hakata-fu tonkotsu ramen
hakata-style pork broth noodle soup

kinoko no otsuimono
••mushroom clear soup

kawahagi
grilled trigger fish jerky

mentaiko meshi
spicy cod roe with rice

bok choy no agemono
•crispy bok choy

jaga-imo furai
•french fries with wasabi kewpie mayo

      it’s a one day pop up event to get some buzz about their next project w/ the guy who is the chef of this event.

      Rumor has it that they are looking at the old Genji space on Sansom Street for Izakaya concept.

      I had high hopes for this ramen… and while the broth was fantastic, the noodles were totally sub par… very oodles of noodles esque, instead of being springy, they tasted almost undercooked… also the egg was totally overcooked (no runny yolk to mix in with the broth!!!). This was not just my bowl, my 3 dining partners had similar noodle/egg complaints.

      Have you tried Doma yet? That place will meet your highest expectations.

      By the time we got seated, nothing was on the menu except the ramen and chicken. The chicken was good. The ramen was not. They did not have all the ingredients for the ramen and the soup was bland. The noodles were just not good. If not for the pork, I don’t think I could even eat any of the ramen.
