This is really good news. For a while, things were looking somewhat dire on the Avenue, with all of the closings. This really should increase foot traffic in the area, which is good for all of the surrounding businesses. Hopefully, it’s a sign of good things to come in CH, if the NIMBYs don’t get in the way.

You know, someone should just go for the jugular and open a place like this at Germantown and Chelten and see what happens. Oh sure, it would take a massive subsidies to even make Iron Hill think about it, but it would be a bigger boost to that area than the Avenue in C.H. Face it, as the economy picks up again the Avenue in Chestnut Hill will come back anyway. It’s still beautiful, people still take walks there, and the neighborhood will always shine. Germantown is long overdue for something dramatic – no other area combines that much history, architectural diversity, and population diversity into one section of the city outside Center City.

this is def. great for the hill as the NIMBYs as someone has mentioned and the Hill business people or real estate god has seemed to keep the area kinda bleak and marginal.
HOWEVER – I agree to a certain extent about reviving different neighborhoods when Ryan says to go for the jugular – however -
this is an area where stereotyping purely on demographics is not so evil.
Whether there or say broad and hunting park- a Red Lobster or Olive Garden / Lobster Complex !
Jobs, Revenue and happy fed people that don’t have to go far to get it.
Try and call this logic something else but that would waste time from winning all around.
I mean, that couldn’t be any more offensive than saying “it’s still beautiful, people still take walks there…”
