The Agenda: Coffee Shops and Dining Out for Life

Two coffee shops are preparing to open this Thursday. Saxby’s is coming to the corner of 20th and Market Walnut. The space will be more high-tech than your normal coffee shop with iPads mounted to cafe tables and iMacs available along the bar seats. In addition to coffee this flagship location for the Saxby’s chain will offer frozen yogurt, fresh fruit smoothies and for the first week, 5% of all sales will go to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southeast Pennsylvania.

La Colombe will also be opening its second Philadelphia location this week with a storefront in the Residences at Ritz Carlton, looking out at City Hall and Dilworth Plaza. Judging by its location and photos of La Colombe’s other cafes, this one will be much different than the Rittenhouse Square location.

A few tables remain for the 9 p.m. seating of Tuesday’s Matyson wine dinner with David Moore. Hurry before the seats are gone.

Wednesday N. 3rd is hosting a Yards beer dinner for $30.

  • Mussels and Yards IPA and Chicken Sage Sausage
  • Veal and Yards Saison Carbonnade w/ Muenster Puff Pastry Top
  • S’more “Pop Tart” w/ Yards Porter Drizzle
  • There will also be a welcome beer.

Thursday is Dine Out for Life. Over 200 restaurants participate with a portion of all proceeds going to fight AIDS.
