Prepare to Dive

We know many are counting down the days to Krispy Kreme’s Center City opening on May 4th but we’re even more excited for another countdown, this one for the Diving Horse in Avalon. The Pub & Kitchen crew returns to the shore on May 20th with some of the same favorites from last year but some new twists and bites to excite.

Last season the 70-seat restaurant was one of the hardest reservations to catch as Chef Jonathan Adams pleased diners with a seasonal seafood-focused menu that changed monthly.

Back this year are favorites like fried oysters served with classic potato salad and pancetta mayo and day boat scallops over preserved lemon pearl pasta, arugula and vermouth nage.

New signature dishes will also emerge including more from P&K’s relationship with Pat LaFrieda Meats. The “Butcher’s Wife” cut of a New York strip (a fat and gristle free cut perfect for the butcher’s wife) will be served with french fries, hotel butter and bordelaise sauce. Also look for mahi mahi with house-cured pancetta, confit red bliss potatoes and parsley pesto.

The desserts will be inspired by old-fashioned pop shops and feature a banana split and the “Kit Kat”, a treat made from chocolate ganache and peanut butter.

This year the Diving Horse will add a General Store near the host stand that will offer hand-crafted coffee, P&K BBQ sauce, Mass Brothers chocolate and hopefully, those Diving Horse t-shirts we dug so much last year.

The Diving Horse begins accepting reservations May 15th.
