Le Virtu’s Campo Throws Itself A Party

Yes, Le Virtu is celebrating the season by throwing an East Passyunk-meets-Abruzze garden party on the little patch of green beside the restaurant. We’re letting you know about this now because, if you’re quick, you can save yourself $5 by scoring a $40 ticket in advance (as opposed to paying $45 at the door on Thursday, May 5). But also because we consider it our sworn duty to spread the news any time anyone decides they’re going to roast a whole pig–which is exactly what Le Virtu is planning for the opening of its “alfresco dining and event area” called Campo.
The centerpiece of this all-inclusive lawn fete (with 20 different beers available, plus wine from Abruzze) will be a suckling pig, roasted on the premises, and attended by butlered snacks courtesy of chef Joe Cicala’s Le Virtu crew. They’ll be walking around trays of arrosticini, housemade sausages, little bites of pork belly, olive all’ascolana (which are fried olives stuffed with braised pork) and–because there is no such thing as too much pork–roast pork finger sandwiches to go along with the entire pig roasting away in back.
Yeah, that $40 price tag doesn’t seem too steep now, does it? The party starts at 6pm on Thursday and runs ’til 10pm. For more information (and to score those discount tickets) click on through to the event website here.
