The Lunch Scene: Mama’s Vegetarian

They must be giving away falafel sandwiches today at Mama’s. Two things you don’t see in this photo: a) the non-existent line at the newish and quite good halal/falafel truck behind me and b) the extremely dirty look that the guy on the extreme left in the photo gave me just after I took the picture. I opted for popcorn from Nuts To You.

      That halal truck is pretty good.

      What about the line at Christos’?

      Mama’s is awesome, but it’s been getting ridiculous lately.

      And that new halal cart is awesome. My whole office is getting obsessed with it.

      Mama’s is delicious, but seriously, it has been crazy recently & worse even after Lent was over. The halal cart is great, and their prices are fantastic, especially when compared with Christo (aka Falafel Nazi)…but you may have snagged the best lunch deal…huge bag o’ popcorn for $1.50 from Nuts to You.

      Christos lowered his price to $7, and is more food and much better quality. But you are never 100% sure what he is going to charge you, and the line can be brutal, even if only a few people are ahead of you.

      I made the mistake of renting an apartment during college days over a Nuts to You store on Chestnut Street. Instead of an alarm clock i would wake up to the sweet smell of roasting nuts every moring at 6am. Not good when I got in from Revival at 4am.
