Dirty Burger Comes to Philadelphia

“You May Never Eat Anywhere Else Again” is the ominous statement on the side of the former Westy’s Tavern at 15th and Callowhill. Now known as West Tavern the corner bar is under new management and promising a new menu by Chef Ian Russo, “The Dirty Chef.” An Internet search reveals a developmental version of the Dirty Burger’s web site. Russo has returned home to Philadelphia after years of cooking in New York at his eponymous eatery on the Upper East Side and Thunder Jackson’s on Bleecker Street. In New York he was exalted for his heavily seasoned burger which is served without any garnish or toppings. It was named the a 2011 Top Ten burger by Gayot.
If anyone’s been in yet we’d love to hear a review.

why is the chef know as “the dirty chef” between that & their slogan it sounds like you might die after eating there & i agree with “phillies” rt has an amazing menu & their kobe beef burger is mouthwatering

Nothing compares to it in the city. Nothing takes like it and the flavors are out of this world. Their homemade ketchup and white truffle mayo that goes along with the burger is so amazing you want suck it through a straw. The fries are freshly cut! Definitely a difference from the previous menu and excited to try the other things on the menu. I definitely will be back!!!!!!!!!!!! Again and again.

Crushed a Dirty Burger Saturday night and it was amazing!
Headed back on Friday with some friends for another one and may rock the Quesidillas, they looked incredible.

3 words. BEST Burger period! I’ve tried the Dirty Ahi Tuna Burger, Turkey and regular and they are amazing. Been in the area for almost 20 years and it’s the best burger in the city. Be there later for lunch.

Saw the “Ya Gotta Try This” segment on Fox Good Day Philadelphia so I decided I would give it a try.
