It’s About Time: XXX Shine Hits the Bottle
Posted by Victor Fiorillo on May 31st, 2011
After many months of experimentation, delays, and inevitable late-night taste-testing at their Northeast Philadelphia industrial park facility, Philadelphia Distilling, the producers of Vieux Carre Absinthe, Penn 1681 Vodka, and the revered Bluecoat Gin are finally bottling XXX Shine, their white whiskey that pays homage to Pennsylvania’s moonshine heritage (who knew?).
Philadelphia Distilling partner Andrew Auwerda reported that the first of the hooch was “literally within minutes” of being poured when I spoke with him today at 2 p.m., and based on the photo (above) that he sent me 5 minutes later, things appear to be underway. The initial run will be enough for about 700 bottles, less spillage and congratulatory shots, of course. Auwerda says he expects the whiskey to hit the consumer level by the end of the week. Enjoy!
