Celebrate Tria’s 4th Anniversary at Washington Square West

Posted by Foobooz on July 26th, 2011

Above is what Tria’s Washington Square West location looked like before it was refurbished and subsequently opened four years ago. The fine folk over at Tria are celebrating with a vintage 2004 Gran Reserva Cava tonight from 4 p.m. to the bubbly runs dry. Glasses are just $4.44 per glass.

Cheers!

      How the F is this location considered “Washington Sq. West”? Is Kensington now “Washington Sq. North”?

      This morning, someone on KWY referred to the area of 12th & Chestnut as “Midtown Village”. WTF? Are we going to jam all of the Manhattan neighborhood names together to form new posh names for unnamed Philly blocks? OK then, from 7th & Spring Garden to Broad & Fairmount is now Chelsea Hill.

      Flunky realtors are ultimately responsible, I am sure.

      Jacques – Generally speaking Washington Sq West is considered to be between 7th (the park) and Broad between Walnut and South so yes Tria is in the middle of Washington Sq West.
      And you are about 5 years too late to make that complaint about Midtown Village. And it wasn’t realtors – but a merchant association not wanting to use the term Gayborhood and it started in 06.

      Late? Who cares? I am still complaining that Fairmount is called the “Art Museum Area”. Ugh.

      Devil’s Pocket = best neighborhood name in Philly, in my opinion.

      @Jacques

      I refuse to use “Art Museum Area” but by MY definition, Fairmount is north of Fairmount Ave and the term “Art Museum Area” is more duplicative of the neighborhood sometimes called Spring Garden.

      There is no more vacuous a debate than the “proper” name for a neighborhood.

      “Devil’s Pocket” is indeed cool, but doesn’t it remind you of “Hell’s Kitchen”? A little bit?

      By the way, I love the name “Northern Liberties”. It’s a very odd name if you are not familiar with it already. But then again, so is “King of Prussia”.
