Odd, I found the lobster tasting to be tasty but a little small (I left still able to eat more) and the service to be outstanding. the pacing of the meal could have been a little faster, but matyson’s service has always been fantastic–occasionally a little spacey.

if you were finished with your meal, it is a bit rude to sit around and potentially open another bottle of wine. Even if there are other tables still eating, that doesn’t give you license to just chill out after a meal at a restaurant. That creates an expectations of chilling, so those 4 or 5 other tables would also just be sitting around afterwards. Not excusing the way they handled it–sounds quite rude–but understanding why they were still trying to clear your table.

I know they weren’t seating anyone else. but there are other unresolved aspects–when did 3rd + Brown get seated? Did that particular waiter have to stay after that table was done? I know Matyson can be a little more aggressive than other spots in trying to get people to turn over their tables, so i’d like to know if this was a case of matyson being aggro or a case in which a table of people had sat there for a good while after eating?

To me, if you’ve finished your meal and had a reasonable enough amount of time to chat politely about it, get up and go. Not only when the restaurant wants to turn the table over, but also when its getting to be time for them to beginning closing shop. That there are other tables still eating doesn’t necessarily mean you have the right to stay squatting at the table. There are more details left unknown.

I’ve also seen Matyson not kick people out even though my reservation time had come and gone. In fact, for hte lobster dinner, we were 15+ minutes late getting seated because the people with our table were being a tad…slow…to get around to paying their check and leaving.
