South Street’s Mako’s Closed?

Philadelphia - South Street HDR
According to numerous sources last night was the last night in business for Mako’s at the corner of 3rd and South. If these same sources and collaborating stories from Philly Speaks are true, the loss of the “retired surfers bar” is temporary as the concept may just pop up at Blarney South, half-way up South Street.

      YAYYYY I hate that place.

      yeah, A buddy of mine was telling me that they apparently couldn’t afford to re-up the lease.

      Given the prime location, it won’t be empty long.

      All the vacancies on South St make me not so sure. If/when it does get leased, I hope it is something ambitious, not just another cookie-cutter South St bar.

      I will seriously miss happy hour at makos. the staff did move over to the blarney south and they were supposed to open the 2nd floor to be like makos. but i dont think its happened yet.
