Naked Cowboys Versus Go-Go Girls

Posted by Foobooz on October 18th, 2011

Tonight you have a choice. From 5 to 7 p.m. tonight the Oyster House’s buck-a-shot oyster happy hour is being infiltrated by Times Square’s iconic Naked Cowboy. The Naked Cowboy will be available with his guitar to pose for photos and to “entertain” diners. Oyster House is even adding a “pop-up” oyster bar on the sidewalk outside of the restaurant for the event.

Or you could head to the Trestle Inn for its opening night. There you will find whiskey and go-go. And just what kind of go-go you ask? Well imagine Barbarella-style dancers shaking their non-nude selves to a wide variety of music. And of course there’s whiskey and cocktails. We’ve been told not to miss the Diablo Cody.

The choice is yours Philadelphia….

I will never go to a place with go-go dancers. I am disappointed that Trestle Inn would bring them back, I used to work in the area and was hoping for a classier place.

And what types of places are classy enough for you? Chain restaurants?

“Dissapointed in Trestle Inn” is amusing to me. I’m not sure why your standards for the place are quite as high as they are.

So I went by for a drink (became two) last night at the trestle. They’re still definitely working out the kinks and I’m not sure they’re using the right whiskey for the base of their sours (Jefferson was a bit too light-bodied to stand up to the lemon + simple + egg, either less mixers or a fuller whiskey would improve it), but the prices are good (seriously…those prices are quality for some of the whiskey) and the decor works. I’ll be back…possibly regularly, depending on the food on my next visit.

as for the go go, i went too early to see what’s going on with that…not sure if i’m sad about that or not. At least it’s now in the back room instead of the front of house.

I’m expecting classy go-go with an Indie edge. Is that too much to ask?

The go-go dancers are completely clothed. There’s nothing to be “disappointed” about. More atmospheric than titillating. Great beer and whiskey selection, food is excellent, prices are moderate. What’s not to love? Best not to judge if you haven’t actually been to make an honest judgement. That is if you plan on being judgmental.
