What Could Be at Jasmine Rice

Posted by Foobooz on November 30th, 2011

Potential isn’t really what you’re looking for in a meal. Unfortunately for Jasmine Rice, execution left Brian Freedman longing for the meal he could have had.

Thai basil meatballs are a handy example. SuperBall-sized and singing with the heat of chili peppers, they were nicely complicated with roasted garlic. But they’d been baked too long, which caused the marinated beef and pork to dry out. A drag through the light, honey-kissed soy helped, but what could have been spectacular meatballs were brought down a peg or two as a result of texture.

I just went here for lunch on Monday and found exactly the same thing that Mr. Freedman did. Great sauces and veggies, lackluster proteins. I totally agree that i could eat/drink a bowl of the red curry sauce like soup.
