Exploding Churros: A Lesson In Modern Journalism


I have two things to say about this story from the Washington Post regarding exploding churros and the Chilean justice system:

1) This is why I don’t like doing recipe features. Not because I am afraid of the lawsuits (we piss off plenty of people here), but because I worry that some stupid professional-kitchen-to-home-kitchen translation mistake on my part will result in the maiming of some poor Chilean woman.

2) What in the hell were they doing in this recipe that caused “the dough boiling in oil [to] suddenly shoot out of kitchen pots”?
