Iron Fist Beer Makes Its Philadelphia Debut at Tapestry

Tonight Tapestry hosts the Philadelphia debut of Iron Fist Brewing Company out of Vista, California.

Iron Fist brews Belgian influenced beers and five drafts will make their debut at Tapestry this evening. The remainder of Tapestry’s twenty-four taps will be taken up by other Southern California craft breweries including 50/50 Brewing, Ballast Point, North Coast, Mission, Coronado and Eel River.

      The other sleeper debut is that of 50/50 Brewing out of Truckee, CA. Their Landslide IPA debuted at the Grey Lodge last week for Friday the Firkinteenth, to my knowledge their first appearance in Philly. 50/50 is brewed by multiple medal-winning brewer Todd Ashman, who opened 50/50 with his brother a few years ago. Ashman is one of the most awarded brewers in the country, and his beers are nothing short of spectacular.

      when did breweries become feature films? people tracking debuts and such…its just a company starting new business in a new market. i’m starting to get grossed out by all this.

      In the end, all of this is just food and booze. Let the nerds get excited man. Personally, I don’t tick white whales, track new or limited beer releases… but I understand why one would want to and I don’t mind people who do. I love seeing that passion (at least from a safe distance).

      I’m fine waiting 2-3 months for the hype to settle, when the beer will be available in larger quantity and with a wider distribution.

      think what is lost here is brands look to Philly to LAUNCH their beer, and feel like this market is like some sort of beer-utopia. while that is all well & good, most of the beer sucks and it will fade into obscurity the day after BeerWeek ends. great brewing should be about consistency, creativity & true flavor. these “1st tapping” events never hold their weight short of a rare offering from an established brewery. Tapestry will be lucky to see 20 heads tonight, yet Pope was off the chain for Hopslam night…now THAT is something worthy of being called an EVENT.

      There is nothing wrong with this being market as an event, there are some great beers on that list, let alone the fifty fifty beer is a great brew, and something fun and new @gowler the pope was fun and thats a great beer but give tapestry a break they are a new bar, a great one thaqt pours amazing beer across the board and a nice addition to the hood. I am excited to see what happens in the future, and i will support by new local bar Leave your haste to yourself……….as far as first tappings remember that evil twin event at the cabinet your nuts

      I’ve been contacted by a couple of friends who live in San Diego jealous to see so much Iron Fist available in Philadelphia. I’ll give their beer a shot, and if it stinks, I’ll cry into my Sculpin.

      And Philly is a beer utopia. You should be happy about that. This lineup is pretty ridiculous, most Beer Week events pale in comparison.
