Tashan’s Top Five Dish
Posted by Foobooz on February 20th, 2012

Tashan continues to get praise from the critics. In the same issue of GQ in which Alan Richman praises Mica as one of the top ten new restaurants in the United States, Richman also singles out Tashan as serving up one of the best five dishes of the year.
Naga Beef Sümi
Tashan, Philadelphia
Sylva Senat uplifts and embellishes everything we love. Wagyu beef on skewers. Peppery soy dipping sauce. Cucumber-peanut relish. Onion rings. Irresistible.

Interesting hmmmm and I wonder what about this is any different from dishes that have been served at China Grill-Buddakan-Sampan type restaurants. In the same article Alan Richman trashes Sean Brock’s Husk is Charleston which is total nonsense. Alan Richman has become the John Mariani of GQ.With all the amazing chefs cooking amazing food in this country he really thinks beef on a stick is one of the top ten dishes of the year.Hilarious.Hopefully I will go try it before Tashan closes.

Yes. Let’s focus on how the reviewer is stupid and wrote a stupid review about a stupid dish, and how Tashan is probably a stupid restaurant if Alan Richman likes it. (Since you’ve had the dish, you sound particularly well informed.)
Or, you know, instead of being cynical assholes about it maybe we could say yay for another Philly restaurant getting a little bit of national press.

Foobooz FanBoys?! Seriously, Tashan is a disappointment overall. For the same money, one can splurge on a really nice bottle of wine (or 2) and head to Indian Restaurant on South St. Unless your priority is to be seen and not to eat, but I guess that’s how the pretty people stay so skinny.
