Celebrate National Margarita Day at Distrito in University City (And Elsewhere)

Happy National Margarita Day everyone!

As far as made-up holiday go, National Margarita Day always features prominently on the calendars ’round Foobooz World HQ–a day ordained by the agave gods for the drinking of high-proof cactus juice and getting weird in public. And while Philadelphia as a whole doesn’t go nuts for the day, there are a few places around town throwing down in South of the Border fashion.

Philadelphia Restaurants Celebrating National Margarita Day:

Celebrating on the Main Line? No worries: Verdad has you covered with half-price traditional margs all night long and half-price everything-at-the-bar from 5pm-7pm (also, free snacks!).

Both Cantina Feliz (in Fort Washington) and the new La Calaca Feliz (in Fairmount) are doing their signature Feliz Margaritas (even the name means happy!) for just $5.

Also, if you’ve got some kind of aversion to skeletons and tacos–or maybe just feel like celebrating National Margarita Day in the middle of Center City–McGillin’s Olde Ale House is doing margaritas for just $2.99 both today and tomorrow. And not for nothing, but that’s a killer deal.

But if you want to do things right: if you want to find yourself a bar with more tequila than you could drink in a lifetime, where the making of margaritas isn’t just a pastime, but a form of agave-worship, you want to check out Distrito in University City. We took the Foobooz Mobile Party Unit down to Distrito, whipped out our cheap little cameras and demanded that the crew there start mixing up margaritas for us, just to see how it was done. Here’s what we managed to get before the siren’s song of $100 bottles of tequila and fresh fruit juices became too much to bear.
