Oscars Viewing Parties


If you’re into the Oscars and looking for a way to view them that doesn’t involve laying on your couch, drinking copious amounts of wine, screaming “what are you wearing?” and laughing out loud to snarky Twitter posts, several Philadelphia bars and restaurants can save you. If you aren’t looking to be saved, then by all means, carry on.

10 Arts – The free party includes a complimentary Champagne sampling, food from new chef de Cuisine Nathan Volzand a live screening.  Jimmy Contreras, editor of PhillyStreetStyle.com and Inquirer fashion writer Elizabeth Wellington will be offering live commentary.

Frankford Hall – The beer hall will be projecting Hollywood’s big night on its eight foot projection screen. There will also be a red carpet, half-priced beer, burgers and sausages. There will also be five local comedians (Chip ChantryJames HeskyJim GrammondMike “the hammer” Rainey and Brendan Kennedy) providing witty commentary on every aspect of the show.

Square 1682 – The bar and restaurant at the Palomar Hotel is offering six cocktails inspired by Oscar nominees (Tree of Lime for the Tree of Life, Jack D’s Honeyball for Moneyball, White Horse for War Horse, Midnight in Campari for Midnight in Paris, Hugo Soco for Hugo, The “Ri” Help for The Help).
