When will the trend of making nothing but ridiculous beers cease? Why is it so bad to develop a beer with a balanced taste rather than these over-hopped monstrosities or quirky ingredients?

I love JB’s, but sometimes the beer list is so unbalanced, that I have to order gin – and that is in nobody’s best interest.

The Dogfish Head slogan is off centered ales for off centered people. They found their niche with these over-hopped monstrosities and quirky ingredients, and have built a super successful brewery. It is a shame DFH never brings the Lawnmower Light out, but that’s not what (most of) the people want. Surprised they aren’t bringing out a 120 or Immort or World Wide though.

When was the last time you had any of these “rare” DFH beers? I’m not a hop-head and love DFH beers just for that reason, they’re not overly bitter from hopping and almost always well balanced. You’ll find that’s the case with everyone of these beers except for the Aprihop & Johnny which are still well balanced with a sufficient malt backbone. Agreed, JB’s doesn’t always have a great selection that’s why Kraftwork’s right up the street.
