Boot & Saddle Gets the Go Ahead

Avram Hornik has gotten the zoning go ahead from the city to open the Boot & Saddle on south Broad Street. The approval comes with the provision that neighbors not be affected by sound coming from the Boot & Saddle. Hornik plans to bring in R5 Productions to book music act at the refurbished space. The building has been vacant for more than a decade and construction will begin this summer and continue into 2013.  And yes, the sign will be restored.

      It will probably be like Ortlieb’s. He’ll do one night “country” on a slow Tuesday but on weekends have DJs in spinning crap.

        Not if R5 Productions are doing the music booking! I’m guessing it will be a haven for booking bands that aren’t big enough for the Union Transfer and Ticket Master sized venues, while having plenty of cool local acts in support.

      Yeah, not really sure how the “R5 sound” will fill a country themed venue.

      yeah, just cause he’s keeping The Boot, doesnt mean its gunna be country themed. it might just pay homage to the past place. I love all the small venue spaces he’s creating. ticket master and live nation are terrible. small venues + local box offices=affordable night life.

      If it is a true country joint, I will be happy but to hear R5 is doing the booking is not favorable in my opinion. They do not have a history of booking country acts. And I’m sorry if you are going to be a country music place, an indie rock promoter is not the right fit.

      Of course that is if it is a country place. It should have a live house band.

      Jump on the Farm to Table bandwagon. Make it a Farm to Bar, have the Farmer’s Daughter working the bar. Yeehaw!

      my mother worked here in 1970-1971 this place is where she met my father a navy man i would love to visit this place

      I just saw their liquor license paperwork covered up with “apartments for rent”
