Iced Coffee Takeover

As if you needed any more ways to cool down – frozen drinks or hot weather deals, anyone? – the city has erupted in new iced coffee drinks to fight heat wave. Cool down with a mid-afternoon pick-me-up to survive the day in more ways than one.

La Colombe has been bottling their cold pressed coffee for awhile now but today you need it. Steeped for sixteen hours in wine tanks, and pressed and filtered twice, La Colombe’s Pure Black is just what it sounds like: dark, black coffee bottled and meant for pouring over ice. For $6 get two 12 oz bottles or get 12 bottles for $24, both available online or in their stores.

Federal Donuts is serving their 16 oz iced coffee for just $3 to go along with their usual donuts and fried chicken. Made with Topeka, Kansas-based PT’s Coffee Roasting Co. beans, the cold brew is created with a customized grind over a six-hour drip time through twin Japanese Syphons (whatever that means). Okay, so maybe that’s a bit of an involved process but if it’s Federal Donuts it’s got to be good.

Mugshots Coffehouse & Café has found a new use for growlers on this hot summer day. For $25 you can pick up a growler filled with Mugshots’ own iced coffee, and refills are just $12. Pick one up at their new location on 1925 Fairmount Ave starting this Friday where growlers filled with Yards and Weyerbacher will also be available.

Brueggar’s Bagels is handing out a free cup of iced coffee today until 4pm to anyone that prints out the coupon on their Facebook page. While you’re there donate your spare change to the Children’s Miracle Network hospital or pick up a coupon book for $1 – all proceeds go to the hospital.

Today at Philly area Dunkin Donuts you can get a medium iced coffee for just $.49! Just print out the coupon on their Facebook page and head to the nearest participating location.
