can somebody explain the LaFrieda thing to me? What type of operation is it, and how does he maintain the quality and artisanal reputation? I’m asking because I must read about a new restaurant serving his burgers every day. Thanks

People like to preach fresh and local….. North Jersey isnt quite Philly and whens the last time one of the LaFrieda employees has spent money at a philly restaurant?

    • Tmacc

Dan…the answer to your question on when the last time an employee ate at a Philadelphia restaurant is every single day…it’s easy to do when you live and work in the area

@dan- unless you are buying from a local farmer….I dont get what geography has to do with it. Are you implying that a Philly distributor that sells boxed beef from mass producers like IBP, Swift Or CAB are fresh and local because they have a physical address in the city? People buy from Lafrieda because they have high quality product and support small farms. And to answer your second question, I recently met someone from Lafrieda and another guy from one of their farms at Rittenhouse Tavern. We talked for over an hour about different places we had eaten in the city. Then they invited us over to Alla Spina and we ate again- so I can name at least two places they eat at.
