Six Pack: Non-Fried Potato Greatness

Though fries, poutine, and latkes have their places in the hearts of potato-lovers everywhere there are ways to make delicious spuds without frying them up in oil. As part of Foobooz Potato Week it is our duty to show you the best of all potato dishes, no matter how they are prepared. So without further introduction, six awesome potato dishes without a fry in sight.
Potatoes on a Pizza?
The geniuses at Blackbird Pizzeria put Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced, with rosemary, olive oil, and sea salt on a pizza. On a pizza, people. Did we mention it’s vegan? So it’s healthy and green, too. Go get one, we’ll wait.

Potato gnocchi is the ultimate comfort food. Warm little nuggets of potato-y, noodle-y goodness with braised duck, snow peas, and honey butter await you at Happy Rooster. To top it off, it’s all house-made just like mom used to make. If your mom made braised duck, that is.

Devil’s Alley serves up a mean mix of crab, corn, and potato hash as a side to any meal. They also have grilled or whipped sweet potatoes and red bliss mashed potatoes, in case you haven’t had enough.

German Style at Frankford Hall
Like every good themed restaurant, Frankford Hall brings it’s Germ-english menu all the way down to its sides where you’ll find classic German potato salad. Pair it with a brat and a brew and you’ll be feeling foreign in no time.

Vernick’s Ravioli
Given the amount of love the city has shown Vernick Food & Drink since it opened the potato ravioli can’t be too far from great. With braised lamb and long beans, if anything could elevate the sidekick status of the spud it’s this dish.

Duck Fat and Potatoes
As if the world didn’t have enough duck fat floating around Heirloom combined it with our beloved potato. But when they roast the odd-shaped Fingerling potato in duck fat and add shallots, well, it may not be a bad idea.
