Blue Belly BBQ Opens

Posted by Aubrey Nagle on July 25th, 2012

The new barbecue joint from Cochon‘s Gene Giuffi, Blue Belly BBQ, will have its grand opening tomorrow at 11:30am. Blue Belly brings the love of meats Giuffi has already showcased at Cochon to a new level with American and world barbecue flavors. The menu features smoked meat platters, sandwiches with everything from Jamaican-style jerk chicken to Korean beef and Southern inspired sides.

We’ll race you there.

Will the 7pm close time be permanent or just early on?

Looks like I am going out to lunch tomorrow. Can’t wait to try it out. I am assuming you get two sides with the platters?

Is this a dine in? or take out? If dine in, is it BYO like Cochon? Just trying to get a feel. Can’t wait to try it either way! My husband and I are huge fans of Cochon!

Mari, it is a small dine in, byob. There are only 17 seats but the place is amazing, Its been open two days and I have been there twice

I dont understand how a new restaurant could close so early.. 7:00, thats when dinner starts! I went in there twice and they were closing. They have no idea that they are losing customers everyday because of this. If they are trying to hit the lunch crowd thats not going to work in that area as there is no lunch crowd. I give them 2 years and they will be closing up their doors. Just bugs me that when people try to enter the restaurant business and dont want to put the time in to making it work.

So disappointed. I’ve smelled delicious BBQ smells coming from Blue Belly on my daily walks since well before they opened. I finally was home in time to stop in and did. The Pork Belly was ridiculously fatty and the portion tiny. The Mac and Cheese not good. The baked Beans were ok. The corn fritters the only remarkably good thing I tried. Not going back even if I am home in their limited hours of operation.
