State of Philly Food Trucks


It can be difficult to keep track of Philadelphia’s roving food trucks. One day they’re right where you want them to be and the next, they’re no where to be found. Here’s our summer check of food trucks, where to find them, what events are coming up and what trucks are next.

Last summer was the kick off of Lunch in Love. A corral of food trucks that visited Love Park every week day. That’s continuing this year with the likes of Pitruco, Lil Dan’s and Foo Truck making regular appearances. The full food truck schedule for Love Park can be found here.

33rd Street

This Summer we’re also seeing many more roving food trucks setting up on Drexel’s campus, particularly near 33rd and Arch Streets. Spot Burger which might be the most praised new truck to hit the streets this summer is serving up fresh ground burgers every weekday at 33rd and Arch. Additionally, Foo Truck, Rival Bros., Delicias, Lil Dan’s, Say Cheese Philly, Pitruco, Gozen Yogurt, Chewy’s and Yumtown USAare all putting in time in University City.

The Porch at 30th

Wednesdays the Porch at 30th Street Station comes alive with food trucks. There’s a farmers’ market from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and four food trucks.

Farmers’ Markets

Weavers’ Way (Thursday) – Zea May’s Kitchen. Clark Park (Saturday) – Look for Yumtown USA and Little Baby’s Ice Cream. Overbrook Farms (Saturday) – Rival Bros. Coffee. Chestnut Hill Growers’ Market (Saturday)  – Lucky Old Souls Burger Truck. Headhouse Square Farmers’ Market(Sunday) – Lucky Old Souls.

Night Stops

Pitruco visits Bella Vista at 10th and Fitzwater from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Look for Vernalicious at Front and Girard on the weekends. Foo Truck caters to weekend revelers under the el tracks at El Bar. Dapper Dogs was the original bar-serving cart and they are still setting up shop at 2nd and Poplar. On Friday nights Mount Airy hosts an outdoor movie night with food trucks. Check out which trucks are scheduled here. Going to the Mann for a concert this summer. Keep your eyes peeled for a food truck or two. Saturday brewery tours have become quite the scene and the Yards Tasting Roomis supplementing its fresh beer with a rotating cast of food trucks.

Where the Events Are

Brewerytown Food Truck Roundup – Nineteen trucks are coming to 27th and Girard between 5 and 10 p.m. It’s pay as you go and there will be a food competition as well. Vendy Awards – Twelve trucks will be competing in University City this Saturday. Mount Airy Night Market– The Night Market returns to Mount Airy on Thursday, August 16th.

What Trucks Are Next

Several food trucks are preparing to hit the streets. Keep an eye out for these new concepts.

  • The Bao Truck – Sliders served on steamed boa buns.
  • Local215 – As the name implies, this truck will have a local food focus.
  • Sunflower Truck Stop – More local products being made into everything from a Buffalo scramble to a their take on a banh mi.
  • Mac Mart Truck – Mac and cheese concoctions, served from a truck.
