Vendy Awards to Host Winners’ Event on the Parkway

The winners of the 2011 and 2012 Vendy Awards will be having a special event at Eakins Oval on the Parkway on Thursday, August 2nd between 6 and 9 p.m. 2011 winners  Sweet Box, GiGi & Big R’s and Cucina Zapata will be there along with the winners of the 2012 Vendys which are being held tomorrow. The event will be pay-as-you-go and beer will be available for purchase from Sixpoint Brewery. There will be music, chalk drawing and more.

      I like Sixpoint beers and I know that the Vendy Awards were in NYC prior to Philadelphia – but shouldn’t a local brewery be the beer of choice for the event?

      To be fair, Sixpoint contract brews many of their beers at Lion’s (i.e. Lionshead) Brewery in PA. Unfortunately, they switched to Lionshead’s yeast for those beers which have turned many excellent beers (i.e. Bengali Tiger) into total crap. Bella Vista now refuses to so much as stock Sixpoint because of the decline in quality.
