Introducing the Chick-Phil-Gay at PYT: “Now With 100% Less Hatred”

That whole Chick-fil-A/gay marriage controversy? It’s never going to go away. Over on the Philly Post, Victor Fiorillo reports on the era of the “Protest Sandwich”–which begins with the new Chick-Phil-Gay being done by (who else?) Tommy Up from PYT.

Unsurprisingly, Tommy has a few things to say about it:

It’s a boneless breast of chicken seasoned to perfection, hand-breaded, cooked in peanut oil and served on a toasted, buttered bun with dill pickle chips. Served with waffle fries, it’s oddly familiar, but with 100% less hatred. For every Chick-Phil-Gay we sell, we’ll donate $1 to the Mazzoni Center, an organization that provides counseling and health services for LGBTQ Philadelphians. Oh, and while you’re here, try one of our famous hand-spun adultshakes. They’re the gayest shakes in town.

      this is so pathetic. yet again, the left shows its inability for reason and comprehension because it disagrees with someone else’s viewpoint. all Dan Cathy did was state that he supports the traditional definition of marriage (as most Americans do). how exactly is that hatred? he is not discriminating against gays in any way, shape or form, and same-sex marriage is NOT currently a civil right. and last i heard, America was still a free country, so he has the right to voice his opinion, and he should be able to do without fear of retribution or false accusations of hatred. it seems to me that the only hatred in this controversy is coming from the likes of PYT.

      Steve, let me try to understand. In your mind, taking a stand against human rights = ok. but making a chicken sandwich and donating to the opposite side in response to an extremely aggressive statement against human rights = an “inability for reason and comprehension.”

      Dan Cathy did not just state that he supports the traditional definition of marriage. He said gay marriage was inviting the wrath of god. Just as he can say his (wrong/ill-conceived/bigoted/hurtful/intolerant) piece, so can anyone else in response.

      I’d love to know what Cathy thinks of our history of defining and redefining marriage–think polygamy and divorce laws and miscegenation laws–and why god hasn’t yet smote the country (or the many countries that are ahead of the US on this issue), yet this, this will be the final straw in his mind. GTFOH.

      thankfully, as Jon Steward noted, we can be happy knowing that Cathy is on the wrong side of history and the wrong side of momentum. I look forward to attending a nationally recognized gay marriage in the near future and not being smoted (is that the past tense of the word? anyway…) by a vengeful Christian god.
