Ocean Prime Coming to 15th Street in Spring of 2013

Posted by Foobooz on August 20th, 2012

Restaurateur Cameron Mitchell who has eight restaurant concepts and 18 locations across eight states is coming to Philadelphia. The Ohio based restaurant group is opening its tenth Ocean Prime at 15th and Sansom in Spring 2013.

The restaurant will serve high-end steaks and seafood and evoke the feel of a supper club. The restaurant’s 8,000 square feet will seat 260 guests and offer private dining rooms to accommodate groups of up to 56. The lounge will offer seating for 60 and a menu of cocktails and wines from around the world.

Ocean Prime will join a stretch of chains along 15th Street that includes Del Frisco’s, Applebees, Fado, Fox and Hound and might be joined by the city’s first Cheesecake Factory.

Sounds like Oceanaire only 8 blocks +/- further west. Where is Oceanaire now? Oh yeah, it’s closed!

What is it with 15th Street and chains? Wendy’s, Fado, Applebees, Chocolate by Bald Man (great name, dummy), Fox & Hound, and now this place. Fuck.

That genius Grasso tried to open up a restaurant here but couldn’t make it past the drawing board. So much for a local establishment

One positive it will fix the windows they destroyed and left open but the menu and concept don’t excite me.
