Sweet and Savory Crepes in Philadelphia
Posted by Aubrey Nagle on August 30th, 2012
Longing for a nice, long, inexpensive trip to France? Well, we can’t really help you there but there are a few places in Philadelphia that sell crepes good enough to make you think you’re under the Eiffel Tower. From sweet to savory, there is no end in sight to the crepe combos for your next snack or meal.

The Ultimate Creperie
Though the New York Post does not agree, we’re sticking by Creperie Beau Monde as they serve up their crepes in the traditional Breton style. Whether you pick from the house recommendations – like banana, Nutella, and hazel nut ice cream, or cherry compote crème anglaise and vanilla ice cream – or build your own, Beau Monde’s fillings will have you skipping dinner. We wish their team luck at Tavern on the Green.

Close to Rittenhouse Square you’ll find La Creperie Café. This BYO makes dozens of styles of crepes from the traditional Citron Sucre with lemon and sugar, to the decidedly American Confiture et Pâte d’Arachide with peanut butter and jelly. To sweeten the deal check their website for a 10% off coupon.

Thai Crepes in University City
Pattaya in University City, right off of University of Pennsylvania’s campus, dishes out Thai cusine to the student-filled area in its quiet restaurant. Try their seafood crepe, Thai style with crab, shrimp, coconut, and cucumber salsa, in the greenhouse-like back room.

Café L’aube’s meal-size crepes come highly recommended by Foobooz founder Art Etchells. He can’t get enough of the Le Malin crepe, filled with camembert, turkey, and honey roasted almonds. Art is also very sad they moved from their place on South Street to their current location in Fairmount, and he hopes to visit them soon.
