Staphmeal’s Josh Albert Facing Charges

Posted by Foobooz on September 11th, 2012

Josh Albert is in more trouble than being sued by some Philadelphia chefs. Albert who drummed up some buzz with his Staphmeal blog has been charged by the Philadelphia District Attorney with three counts of criminal solicitation to commit murder regarding Facebook pages he has set up.

What a moron. Nevertheless, if someone created an identical “Kill Josh Albert” page, would they be charged with a crime?

Aren’t there better things for the DA to prosecute? There are plenty of reasons this city is going to hell and most of them reside in City Hall.

May he be raped by 1000 angry buffalo. Unless he’s into that sort of thing, which he probably is.

the demi-god nature of the food critic/blog created an asshole like this…you all fed the fire completely.

I have seen a lot of mixed reactions to this story. A lot of people are wondering if the DA has anything better to do or if this is an attempt to limit 1st Amendment rights. My take, for what it is worth, is that it would be downright negligent not to treat his actions as anything but criminal. In this day and age where mass shootings, terroist actions, etc are common place, why should they NOT treat this as a potential threat. He went out of his way (“satire” or not) to call for the killings of public officials and support the killings of others. At the very least, this man needs a serious psychiatric evaluation because the warning signs are all there in my opinion. It is much better to be proactive than reactive if something should actually occur.

Lots to debate but the bottom line is that your fuck with the cops and justice system, you are going to get burned.

The District Attorney is really a useless P.O.S. in my humble opinion. He goes after fluff cases like it’s the end of the world and can’t win a real case to save his life. Criminals continue to walk the streets because he just doesn’t know shitfromshinola. That’s how the cop got killed in the first place. Useless DA’s office let those guys find a way out of jail.

This will end up costing the taxpayers alot of time and money for what is obviously a freedom of expression with no intent to have anyone harmed (he would have posted anonymous if he was serious).

When I get on this jury I will be sure to say innocent and support a civil suit against the city and DA for bringing a case without merit for personal reasons.

Josh Albert is a loser, will committ suicide soon (I will bet money on that) and this is gonna help accelerate that only ultimate end for him.

However I still feel Philly should Impeach Seth Williams !!!! (oops, time to go on the warpath again you no good useless DA) I’ll send you a Eubonics copy of the Constitution since it appears you can’t understand it in the Queen’s English.

DA’s Office Not Prosecuting As Many Cases[see recent Inquirer articles] yet they have time for This nonsensense? And I thought Lynne Abraham was a hack! they think they can scare this guy, but You Heard It Here First–JoshAlbert’s atty will Not settle for a wrist slap, he will fight the charges, get ‘em dismissed and Then pursue a civil suit [get 'em Wowzer]. You may not like JAlbert, but he has a Right to his free speech Opinion whether DASeth likes it or not. He’s ONLY doing this to appear tough for his next election, mainly because The Cops hate him and he’s hired a bunch of lackeys and incompetents. He got divorced, Don’t you think his girlfriend is on staff Somewhere in the DA’s Office?
Bad move Seth, this makes you look even More pathetic than usual, you hack. Good luck handing over that settlement check to JA’s attorney!!

Well, it probably won’t be as time consuming as most criminal trials. The facts are hardly in dispute and it will quickly boil down to a) nobody could possibly take my client seriously and/or b) even if they did, First Amendment. Not going to require forensics, weeks of witness statements etc. is it?

Not sure how I fall on this, especially since its pretty clear to those who have been following in sick fascination his “career” that JSA is seriously unbalanced and is mainly concerned with getting attention – at least in part, this is what he wants. It’s also clear that his 15 nanoseconds of “fame” were well and truly up once he was exposed as a serial liar whose vaunted restaurant insider status stemmed mainly fom Chick-Fil-A. The death threats seemed a last gasp for a blog and twitter leaking hits and followers.

That being said, there are lots of hard right bloggers and talk radio folk with far, far higher profiles and audiences than JSA who do things in the same vein as JSA – lots of vile personal abuse, hyperbole, “edgy” comments and “walking the line”. Just like JSA, the defense tends to be a combination of “what’s a matter, can’t take a joke?” and “I have the right to my opinion”. I’m guessing most people would be pretty worried if somebody like Michael Savage started making calls for specific government officials to be shot “in jest” or set up a page in support of two militia members accused of shooting an ATF agent. The problem here is that even if Savage is going for ratings and JSA is acting out of deranged trolling attention seeking, the “jokes” in either case may not be read as such by the audience. If you’re the type of person to type “kill + Romney” into FB, you’ll find JSA’s page and possibly Reinforcement. That’s dangerous. The First Amendment concern is real but its hard to accept someone as profoundly unserious as JSA as really expressing a viewpoint (unless it’s arrested development rage and general misanthropy) or, given his horrid writing style, artistic merit.

It is kinda funny that his serial alienation of absolutely everyone he has come in contact with and his “edgy” turns towards misogyny, anti-semitism and discussions of male genetalia may lead him to have few supporters and less of the attention he so desperately craves. Burned a lot of bridges there kid.

Arthur Etchells is way worse than Joshua Albert. Another puffter attention ho that just can’t seem to find it. Even after his windfall $2,000.18 sale of Foobooz to Philly Mag.
