Posted by Aubrey Nagle on September 13th, 2012
Tomorrow, September 14th, the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Dorrance H. Hamilton Center for Culinary Enterprises will happen at 11 a.m. at 310 S. 48th Street. Mayor Michael Nutter, Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, and Enterprise Center president Della Clark will all be speaking at the opening of the largest food business incubator in the city.
More details on the Center after the jump.
The 13,000 square foot Center for Culinary Enterprises (CCE) will be the home of community health and nutrition resources as well as an incubator for food entrepreneurs looking to expand their business. The CCE will house four shared-use kitchens, two baking and two traditional, for rent to entrepreneurs. There will also be an eKitchen with a multimedia center for demonstrations, classes, and workshops for on-premises and distance learning. The support for clients and entrepreneurs includes hot, cold, and dry storage, loading spaces, lounges to do business in, and even showers.
The CCE is also home to three retail spaces held specifically for healthy and ethnic foods. The first two have gone to Café Injera, an Ethiopian coffee spot, and Indian/Pakistani restaurant Desi Village.
