Reserve Shuts The Doors

Posted by Jason Sheehan on September 14th, 2012

For a couple days now, word has been leaking out that Reservethe Old City steakhouse that opened in February–was headed for a fall. There were texts. There were emails. There were whispers. But now it looks as though the rumors are true. I just called the place and no one is picking up the phone, and the Open Table reservation page has been disabled.

No idea yet whether this is a temporary or permanent closure, but things aren’t looking good.

I miss Rococo. Before that it was … and then after, was there something before the Filipino-ish place?

Philadelphia is really facing a shortage of Steakhouses with DJs and VIP bottle service sections now ;op

and now what do I do with the Groupon I just purchased????? Wonderful

    • Edward

Hide it Larry, it shows people you are stupid since this place was obviously closing

stupid is as stupid does Edward

@Larry, that is a good question about Groupon. What does happen? That can’t be good for their reputation, either. Does anyone know if their is a policy about a restaurant closing within the expiration period?

    • Drano

Hopefully RedZone will be the next to go!

Call Groupon and explain. They’ve been really reasonable about refunding purchases when something goes wrong. I had to cancel one when a place went out of business and another when a hotel package turned out to be booked during the time I needed to travel.

***All youse gotta do is go back to the Opening Announcement on 02/24/2012 to see what a Real Restauranter has to say***

Here’s a concept I am still waiting for – a back room of a South Philly bar that broils quality steaks at reasonable prices. No million dollar decor. No fancy wine list. No cliche a la carte sides. Just an inch and a quarter thick rib eye, broiled a perfect medium rare at a 40 to 50% food cost. Make the money on the beer and the lines out the door.
**Does no one listen? ANY restaurant on such a grand scale is doomed or needs corporate backing [Union Trust, Del Frisco, Oceanaire/Chops]. If there ain’t 300 folks, it looks Empty. Tried to go in and Buy One Drink during media/friends&family opening, but was turned away by Didier. Guess HE didn’t know that was his last and Only chance with me! And I don’t feel sorry for them, their ‘cigar room’ or their delusions of grandeur, which is Now a huge non-taxpaying hole in the wall with purveyors holding the bag. Bring back Paul Rimmear and Rib-It!
