Oddfellows Reincarnated as YOLO

Do you really only live once? Odd Fellows, located on 1201 Spruce Street, is trying to defy that notion with their revamped storefront, now called YOLO (as in, You Only Live Once). Yes, they are Drake fans.

Under new ownership, YOLO plans on revamping their entire menu and focusing primarily on brunch options and baked goods. While their coffee menu will experience little change, their coffee provider, formerly Counter Culture, will now be the local Green Street Coffee.

While you can presently stop by the cafe for your caffeine fix, YOLO will be having an official menu tasting this Wednesday, October 3rd, open to the public.

      I was stupefied by this rebranding when I walked by this weekend. This place has been a mess since day one; change is welcome, but the rebranding does not leave me hopeful that it will be positive or enduring.

      Wow. Went by there yesterday and had no idea what the hell was going on. I didn’t realize the Spruce Street Espresso people had already sold it? It was still Oddfellows when I was there on Wednesday. The concept was always weird; coffee during the day but then a full service restaurant at night but still doing take-out coffee and limited seating? Very confusing. The menu looked interesting, though. Here’s hoping Spruce Street opens back up.

      I hope that Spruce Street Espresso is resurrected! I miss that place. Strangely, the coffee never tasted quite as good at Oddfellows.

      True story: the people who owned Odd Fellows fucked over a tremendous amount of their employees and as awful as the name “YOLO” is I’m glad to see karma has caught up with them.

      The few dishes I had there were actually quite good, including one of the better Cuban sandwiches in town. I agree that the concept made little sense, though.

      I was really confused this morning as I walked in to “YOLO” hoping to buy some Counter Culture Coffee beans. Now that they are under new ownership, the Green Street Coffee is just simply not as good. I wish YOLO the best; I know Odd Fellows had some problems over the months with their food menu, but their coffee was some of the best in the city.

      I really hope Spruce Street Espresso re-opens. . .

      Just stopped by YOLO and spoke to an employee. It seems the owner of SSE has left which is potentially why they have rebranded. The new coffee is horrible compared to the top notch counter culture roasts. And YOLO…really? You can now expect only angsty teens with a brand like that. The real coffee fans will wait for SSE.

      I was there today with six close friends of mine from Jefferson hospital was concerned with name but after I have the double waffle with nutella strawberries I was convinced this is green eggs new competition in the neighborhood.. 10.50 was my share of bill.. I but down side was new staff was little shakie

      I used to go to Spruce
      Street Espresso everyday to get a coffee. I started to go to Oddfellows but quickly handed my business over to Goodkarma…the service, the coffee, it was just…not good. Needless to say, I wil not be going Yolo. Bring back Spruce Street!

      I came here for a coffe and a pastry I saw the (surly) barista take a pastry with her hands seconds after handling money, call me germphobe but that’s just foul

      I just moved to pine st in philadelphia a month ago. I walk straight down 12th to go to work every morning… there is alway a bright smiling face of a mixer “southern”. To brighten my morning. My favorite is the salted carmel cappucino. Great for a fall morning. If you get a chance try the chillie reminds me of my home town Dallas

      My husband and I just had a very disappointing visit for breakfast this morning. After waiting 30 minutes for our food to arrive (we were one of two parties in the restaurant, I chalked it up to them being new and didn’t say anything), my husband’s vegetarian breakfast burrito had a ton of meat in in. He of course only discovered this after taking a few bites – he wasn’t expecting meat since the waitress had assured us they could make it vegetarian. It took 5 minutes to flag down anyone to help us (again, they weren’t that busy), and then it took over 10 minutes to bring out a replacement egg and cheese. Yes, my breakfast got cold and unappetizing in the meantime. No one offered to comp any part of our meal so when I asked if that could happen, the waitress said “sure, I don’t have time to write you a check anyways.” How about “sorry your husband feels really sick now from eating meat, which was our mistake.” I’d recommend skipping this place – even if they get their act worked out, there are plenty of places in the area that are already delicious and have good service. When we go to Green Eggs it takes much less time for much more complicated orders… Now we’re sitting at home for the day because my husband is sick from the meat.

      I hate it when vegetarians whine! I’m sorry the service was incompetent and unprofessional, and its icky getting meat (or anything else for that matter) in your mouth when you don’t want, are not expecting it. But really?! You stayed home all day?! How sick could he actually have been?!
      Look, it’s a legitimate complaint, but it’s not the end of the world.

      You hate it when vegetarians whine, but if you have been a vegetarian for a long period of time, eating meat will make you sick because your body does not have the enzymes to digest the food and it’s even worse for those who have been vegetarians for their whole life. If you don’t know, just don’t say. It’s rude to just say that so easily when you’re not in their shoes.

      I Loved MY TURKEY BACON BURRITO at YOLO..

      Stop your whining veg.jk ha.. also the rest of my table was pretty satisfied. Even my gf a profession pain in my a$$ loved her nutella waffle.
      I say they earned our business. We will be back next weekend.
