Tonight is opening night for Tavro 13

Yeah, we know Swedesboro, NJ is a schlep, but seriously? This is Terence Feury’s new spot, and if eating in the dining room of a chef who can list Le Bernardin, the Ritz Carlton, Striped Bass and Fork on his resume isn’t enough to get you across the bridge, there’s just something wrong with you.

      My husband and I stopped in last night, there were two tables with couples at each and 8 people at the bar and the bartender could not keep up. We sat for 10 minutes before we even got waited on, then he handed us a menu and when he finally came back to take our drink order he had to send out for the bottle of wine we ordered. We were looking forward to trying the food but twenty-five minutes later we still didn’t have a drink. We didn’t wait around. The place wasn’t busy enough to excuse that type of service. Although we didn’t get a chance to try the menu I have to say I certainly hope the food is incredible to warrant the high prices on the menu both the drinks and the food. I would expect prices like that in Philly or Delaware but not in Swedesboro. My husband and I ate at the Swedes at least once a week when it was open, I don’t see us going back to Tavro any time soon. The deco is anything but inviting, certainly not relaxing or comfortable, definitely leaning more towards the nightclub scene and the service has a long way to go to even begin to compete with the other restaurants and bars in town. That’s a shame, we were looking forward to something new….just not that!

      My boyfriend and I had dinner there last night and loved it. The oysters were delicious as were the homemade pasta dishes. The wine selection is great, not your typical list. The decor is fun and it has a great ambience. This is an awesome additional for South Jersey and the proximity to Wilmington and Philly; we are in PA and it was just a 20 minute drive. We will definatley be back with friends.

      Pro’s: Great decor. Unique & tasty offerings. Attentive and friendly staff. Super manager (Ilsa)

      Con’s: A tad expensive for the area. Limited menu.

      Comment: I hope enough people give it a try so that it’s a success. However, I am concerned by the lack of positive buzz.
