Bonte Closes on 17th Street

Posted by Foobooz on October 24th, 2012

Philly Post contributor Joel Mathis was just at the Bonte waffle and coffee shop on 17th Street when they closed up shop as he was sitting there. The manager told customers “the rent was getting too high: ‘tactical retreat’ to remaining outposts.”

Kinda sad, in my opinion. I loved the Bonte that was in the Philadelphia Building at Juniper and Walnut. Good coffee, awesome food, and really friendly staff.

If the waffles were actually any good, they may have thrived

i guess the new owners couldn’t handle it. its a shame cause the waffle is a great idea for a space. It just seems like Bonte never figured out how to make it shine.
