Side Project Jerky Pairing (Yeah, We Said Jerky Pairing)

Posted by Jason Sheehan on November 1st, 2012

Blah blah First Friday, blah blah denim exhibit… What matters here (or at least what should matter most to fans of fine dried beef products and complicated cocktails) is that there will be a tasting of Side Project Jerky, paired with Art In The Age cocktails, being offered tomorrow during the Norman Porter denim exhibit at the Art In The Age storefront in Old City.

I’m not 100% sure, but I’m fairly certain that this represents the first beef jerky pairing in modern (food) history. And even if it isn’t, it’s still pretty cool. I mean seriously… Which would you rather have at a cocktail party? More silly little toast rounds stacked with foie gras, marrow foam and unicorn daydreams, or a handful of damn fine jerky?

Yeah, that what I thought. And from what I hear, the Norman Porter jeans are pretty swanky, too.

I am a huge fan of beef jerky, and this sounds excellent. However, I must set the record straight! As far as “firsts”, it is definitely not. We paired it with rose this summer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=zSasa1Rz9D4)- it also goes spectacularly with pinotage, by the way. I pretty sure we probably also weren’t the first…

Then I stand corrected–and with video evidence no less! Still, everyone ought to come to the 2nd (or 3rd or 4th…) ever jerky pairing, because it’s still an awesome idea.

I wish that I was driving that bus, or at least riding on it.
