Seven Fishes Feasts Are Becoming All the Rage


Seven Fishes Paella at Verdad

The traditional Christmas Eve Feast of the Seven Fishes has long been celebrated in Italian households in South Philadelphia but now it has really broken through as a restaurant event. Check out the traditional and unusual takes on the feast being put together by some of Philadelphia’s best restaurants.

Amis – On December 23rd, Amis will be preparing its rendition of  the Feast of the Seven Fishes, with seatings available between 4pm-5pm, 6pm- 7pm and 8pm-9pm.

Avalon Restaurant and Avalon Pasta Bistro – Chef John Brandt-Lee  will be offering 5-course seafood menus at both restaurants from Friday, December 21 through Monday, December 24.

Crystal Tearoom – Dom Giordano Hosts Feast of the Seven Fishes Dinner on Monday, December 17th. The dinner will host local celebrities as well as a local choir.

Davio’s – On Christmas Eve, Davio’s will be offering  a $75 menu of seven seafood courses will be available.

In Riva – On Sunday, December 23rd, chef Arthur Cavaliere will create his interpretation of the Italian holiday meal with a $75 per person, 7-course prix fixe menu, along with wine pairings.

Le Castagne – Chef Michael DeLone will be offering  a $75 prix fixe Feast of Seven Fish dinner through December 24th.

Matyson – This week’s tasting menu at Matyson is dedicated to seven fishes in four courses for $45.

Meritage – From Wednesday, December 19th through Friday, December 21st Meritage is offering a Seven Fishes dinner for $39. An optional wine pairing is available for $24.

Noir – Chef Marco DeCotiis is merging his love of Bouillabaisse and the Feast of the Seven Fishes into a one special bowl at Noir. The special runs now through December 30th. Noir is also doing a traditional dinner of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve.

Panorama – Now through Sunday, December 23 rd, the Front Street Italian restaurant will be offering a four-course Seven Fishes dinner for $45. A 3 ounce taste of the sommelier’s Italian Islands wine pairings with each course will be served for an additional $30.

Sbraga – Kevin Sbraga’s Chef’s Counter will be offering up a special Seven Fishes menu now through December 28th. Hustle though, these seats always sell out fast.

Verdad – Chef Nick Farina has introduced a Seven Fish Paella featuring Spanish rice (calasparra), seasonal vegetables, a whole Maine lobster, and enough mussels, clams, scallops, shrimp, calamari and salt cod to satisfy four hungry adults for $62!
