Pennsylvania 6 Makes Some Noise

Pennsylvania 6 was announced back in May of 2012. Brian Harrington, part of the  City Tap House crew is opening a bistro a the former home of Tweed. But since then it has rather quiet on 12th Street. But recently there have been signs of life, not the least of which are these photos posted to Instagram.

Opening date is set for sometime in February.

      Hope he pulls it off! The demise of Les Bon Temps in that beautiful space was particularly depressing.

      I suppose it’s worth one more shot before declaring this location doomed. Maybe.

      Whatever goes there, it will never equal the splendor of Odeon. Such a great location; I don’t know why Starr or Garces haven’t opened something there. It would be a great spot for the return of Blue Angel.

      Now that the corner of 13th and Samson has completely blossomed over the last two or three years with restaurants and bars, since about the time Tweed closed, along with the opening of Milkboy, the place will likely succeed.

      The area has been booming with night life the last two years. Add in Smokin’ Betty’s and the East side of Broad has really changed in recent years.

      I am still waiting to see what goes into the old Beneficial Bank Building at the corner of 12th and Chestnut. A year or so ago, someone had grandeous plans of putting a bar/restaurant along with a rooftop bar in there. The building had a liqour license notice posted, but it seems those plans have fallen through. It won’t be long before that fabulous space is gobbled up and something interesting put there.

      David Brenner was intially invovled with a large pool hall concept for the Beneficial space but neighborhood opp. and lack of ficancing doomed that project. But the building was just sold so hopefully something will happen there, i don’t care what as long as they get rid of the aggressive panhandlers that congregate there now are moved.
