Steve’s Prince of Steaks Is Coming to 16th Street in Center City

Posted by Foobooz on January 10th, 2013

Michael Klein has the scoop on Northeast Philadelphia’s Steve’s Prince of Steaks taking over the former Krispy Kreme at 16th and Chestnut. The Northeast Philadelphia spot is often cited as one of the better cheesesteaks in town and there really isn’t a dedicated cheesesteak spot west of Broad.

No timeframe for the opening.

Except the place called “Mike’s STEAKS” in the Comcast Center?

Forgot about that one. But maybe that’s because it is in a side aisle of a subterranean food court.

I almost wish those Center City people who refuse to come to Northeast Philly don’t deserve our food, but congrats to Steve’s.

I almost wish this wasn’t happening. Those Center City people who refuse to come to Northeast Philly don’t deserve our food, but congrats to Steve’s.

Yeah, we’re totally undeserving because we won’t drive 15 or 20 miles out of the city for a mediocre cheesesteak when we can get an equivalently mediocre cheesesteak by walking a few blocks in pretty much any direction. So stupid of us. We’re not worthy!

mediocre cheesesteak? f’ing moron. steve’s is the best cheesesteak experience in the entire city and i couldnt be happier that it’s moving blocks instead of miles from me. please try something before you label it as mediocre joe

9 miles, genius. Not that I expect you fake Philadelphians to know what occurs outside of Yuppieland where you live paycheck to paycheck due to high rent and $12 beer.

9 miles? You must be a bird of some sort to be able to fly in a perfectly straight line from point A to B. Those of us relegated to cars have to go a round about way and can’t make that trek in 9 straight miles. Also, I didn’t realize that by actually living in the center of a city that I was actually a fake resident of the city. Very confusing rules! And my taxes would seem to indicate otherwise. But clearly you’re the expert here. I’m not really sure how you arbitrarily decide who is a “real” Philadelphian, but I guess most of the restaurants talked about on this blog must be fake Philadelphia restaurants as well, since a large majority are in center city. And now that Steve’s is setting up shop here, they are soon to be “fake” as well! Also a “Yuppie” (“Young Urban Professional”) — I presume that’s who lives in Yuppieland — is generally someone of the upper or upper-middle class. I highly doubt these are folks living paycheck to paycheck. I’ll just chalk that mix-up to a tinge or jealousy on your part.

Best thing to hit Center City in years. I hope the tourists will realize how bad Pat’s & Gino’s are now
